Clinical Pilates

Pilates is a form of exercise which focuses on improving core strength, posture, balance, co-ordination and flexibility.

Clinical Pilates is often used in conjunction with Physiotherapy as a means of treating a variety of injuries. The principles of Clinical Pilates are the same however all classes are led by a qualified Physiotherapist who has an in-depth knowledge of injury, pathology, bodily function, healing and movement patterns. Clinical Pilates is therefore ideal for anybody with existing conditions or injuries that require more attention than a one size fits all class.

Clinical Pilates is also beneficial in sport and is used by elite athletes in all disciplines to improve essential movement patterns, enhance performance and fitness as well as assisting with injury prevention. All clients are assessed prior to the class allowing the Physiotherapist to identify the key issue (s) and then tailor the exercises to the specific requirements of the individual. This ensures optimal gains whilst minimising the likelihood of aggravating an injury. The class sizes are small (maximum of 8) which allows the Physiotherapist to give all participants in the class individual attention.
